  • 1904 – Baseball begins
  • 1907 – First Founder’s Day held in memory of Dr. James B. Simmons
  • 1907 – Women’s Basketball begins
  • 1908 – First issue of the Corral published
  • 1908 - First issue of the Bronco published
  • 1908 – Men’s Basketball begins
  • 1908 – Track begins
  • 1910 – 1st Era of HSU Football ends
  • 1912 – Athletic Teams begin using the nickname “Cowboys”
  • 1916 – First Issue of The Brand published
  • 1916 – Men’s Tennis begins
  • 1917 - 2nd Era of HSU Football begins
  • 1917 - Hardin-Simmons University Anthem written
  • 1920 – Dam-It dies
  • 1921 – Women’s Athletics put on hold for 1 year
  • 1923 – Cowboy Band founded
  • 1923 – First Homecoming Weekend celebrated
  • 1925 – First Graduate Classes offered
  • 1925 – Cowgirls cheerleading group begins
  • 1930 – Six White Horses begin sometime in the early 1930s
  • 1937 – Chapel reduced to 4 times per week
  • 1938 – Civil Pilot Training Program began
  • 1940 – Cowgirl Band begins due to men being at war
  • 1944 – Civil Pilot Training Program ends
  • 1947 – First Ever College Rodeo takes place at HSU
  • 1947 – Ex-Students Bulletin name changed to Range Rider
  • 1948 – Men’s Golf begins
  • 1949 – KHSU radio station begins
  • 1950 – Rangers, a men cheerleading group similar to the Cowgirls begins
  • 1952 – Army ROTC program is started
  • 1954 – Rifle Team begins
  • 1959 – Women’s Volleyball begins
  • 1960 – Social Clubs appear on campus
  • 1961 – Women’s Tennis begins
  • 1964 – 2nd Era of HSU Football ends
  • 1970 – Chapel reduced to Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 1975 – Men’s Soccer begins
  • 1981 – Western Heritage Day begins
  • 1983 – Men’s Volleyball begins
  • 1985 – Women’s Soccer begins
  • 1985 – Women’s Golf begins
  • 1986 – Men’s Volleyball ends
